The Vicarious Trauma Toolkit (VTT) is a free, online toolkit of evidence-informed and best practice research and resources for first responder organizations including victim services, law enforcement, fire services and emergency medical services.

The impact of vicarious trauma on these populations continues to increase, yet most organizations don’t know where to seek support, and some are fearful of acknowledging their challenges. VTT is designed to help identify gaps, as well as the steps needed to strengthen and support staff members.

Katherine Manners and Lisa Tieszen were lead developers and consultants for the innovative VTT, developing assessment systems and vetting/prioritizing resources for inclusion. This project was supported by financing from the federal Office for Victims of Crime at Northeastern University in Boston.
